A woman has been found guilty of animal cruelty in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court.
The SPCA says Mirriam Mofokeng was sentenced to 12 months in jail or a fine of R6 000.
However, the sentence was suspended for five years.
Mofokeng was arrested in March last year for failing to provide medical treatment to her dog which had suffered 60% burns.
The animal had to be euthanased due to the extent of the injuries.
