A 54-year-old woman has been arrested for the murder of Stellenbosch winemaker, Stefan Smit, bringing to three the number of suspects behind bars for his 2019 murder.
Western Cape police spokesperson, Noloyiso Rwexana, said the woman was arrested on Monday morning and is due to appear in court on Tuesday.
She has been identified in media reports as Smith's wife, Zurenah, who has been on the run since warrants of arrest were executed last week.
Two men, aged 50 and 56 were arrested last week and made a court appearance on Friday.
The wine farmer was shot dead in front of his wife and a family friend when armed suspects entered their residence through an unlocked door at their Louiesenhof Wine Estate in June last year.
