A 36-year-old woman was arrested in East London on Saturday after drugs worth more than R3 million were found in her possession.
Police spokesperson Captain Hazel Mqala said the woman was a passenger on a bus travelling from Bloemfontein to East London.
The bus was spotted and followed to the Windmill Roadhouse bus station where she was pointed out.
“Police then requested permission to search her bag, which was granted by her,” Captain Mqala said in a statement.
“Upon searching the suspect's bag, they recovered drugs suspected to be tik, 15 bricks of crystal meth were found in her possession.”
The drugs weighed 20.5 kg in total to the street value of R3 million rands were confiscated by police, she said.
The suspect was arrested and will face a charge of dealing in drugs. She is expected to appear in the East London Magistrates Court on Monday.
