JOHANNESBURG, May 29 (ANA) – South African Revenue Service (SARS) customs officials have intercepted a woman from Sao Paolo in Brazil carrying 7kg of cocaine valued at R2.1 million at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, SARS said on Sunday.
“The woman was stopped for a routine check and her two bags and backpack were searched and scanned. Her backpack had a special compartment with white power that tested positive for cocaine,” SARS said in a statement.
The woman and the cocaine were handed over to the SA Police Service for further investigation and prosecution.
