A woman from Durban has been arrested for allegedly trying to kill her husband.
Spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele says the 62-year-old victim was watching TV in his lounge on Thursday when he was attacked by three women who covered his head with a bin bag.
She says another woman started to strangle him with a scarf but he fought back and managed to remove the bag from his head.
Mbele says it was then when he realised that one of the women was his domestic helper.
The attack persisted as the suspects attempted to suffocate him.
Mbele says while the attack was in progress the suspects were joined by the victim's wife who also tried to suffocate him.
The man managed to activate his panic alarm and the neighbours came to his rescue.
The women between the ages of 38 and 53 will appear in the Verulam Magistrates Court on Friday.
