Embattled DA leader Mmusi Maimane is currently top-trending on twitter, and the widespread speculation is that he's about to quit as the leader of the party.
The DA sent out a media advisory earlier this afternoon that Maimane would make a press statement at DA headquarters in Bruma, Johannesburg, at one pm.
Moments later, the time was changed to three pm.
Political commentator Daniel Silk says that coming hot on the heels of Helen Zille being elected Federal Chairperson of the DA on Sunday, Herman Mashaba resigning as mayor of Johannesburg on Monday, and not to forget the DA's poor performance at the polls, its all left Maimane with nowhere to go.
Silk told Algoa FM News that Maimane's clear support as he stood alongside Mashaba during his resignation was telling.
