The Western Cape High Court will hear a review application on Monday on whether provincial education MEC Donald Grant was correct in wanting to close down 17 schools.
In December, judges Siraj Desai and Elizabeth Baartman granted the schools, their governing bodies and the SA Democratic Teachers' Union an urgent interdict halting the closures.
They ordered Grant to re-instate leases and services, and not transfer teachers or learners unless they voluntarily chose to leave.
The main reason for granting the interdict rested on the schools' argument that Grant failed to meaningfully consult with them on the closures.
