The Premier of the Western Cape Alan Winde has tested positive for Covid-19 and is in self-isolation.
The 55-year-old Premier who also suffers from Type 2 diabetes, had himself tested when he experienced normal flu-like symptoms.
Winde says his symptoms are very mild but since he falls within a high-risk category he knows that this can change at any time.
He says it is of the utmost importance to stay away from other people if you have tested positive.
The Western Cape has been the hardest hit with the Covid-19 pandemic where the death toll is standing at 2 145.
