Western Cape police are still searching for 4 men who dumped human waste on the steps of the provincial legislature on Monday.
Lt-Col Andre Traut says the waste was dumped mid-morning after which the men fled the scene.
Cape Town has been hit by a number of human waste dumping incidents in the past few months by people protesting over sanitation issues in informal settlements.
Many believe the portable flush toilets being rolled out by the city are no better than the bucket system.
The incident at the legislature occurred at the same time nine men were
appearing in the Bellville Magistrate's Court for dumping human waste at Cape Town International Airport.
