Four Western Cape police officers are in custody for a house robbery at the premises of a foreign national in Llandudno last month.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, said two officers were arrested by their anti-corruption unit on the 14th of September.
The 44-year-old Sergeant and 28-year-old Constable appeared in court but their case was remanded to Thursday for a bail application.
Van Wyk says the third policeman, a 33-year-old Sergeant stationed at Belville SAPS was arrested several days later and also appeared in court.
He says the fourth, a 38-year-old Sergeant stationed at Philippi SAPS, was arrested on Wednesday after his fingerprints placed him at the crime scene.
All members will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Van Wyk says seasoned detectives were roped in to solve the crime.
It is not clear what the officers allegedly stole from the crime scene.
Van Wyk said the investigation is at a sensitive stage and therefore he would not divulge any information that might jeopardise the success of the investigation.
Western Cape provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile has praised the investigation team for the arrests. He says that police officers are supposed to uphold the law and protect the public. "Let this serve as a warning to those who think they can abuse the resources of the state for their disgraceful purposes". he said.
