Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane is on Friday expected to join Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu on an oversight visit at the Makana local municipality.
This, in an effort to stabilise the state of water provision in the area.
Earlier in 2023 the Makana local municipality issued a boil-water advisory after E.coli was detected in water samples taken in May.
Municipal spokesperson, Anele Mjekula, said at the time that the municipality "received water testing results from the resampling" done and "which indicated that there were failures in the water quality, in that the presence of E.coli was detected".
He said in dealing with the matter, the municipality would continuously do regular water tests, and take appropriate actions to ensure that microbiological water quality results meet the drinking water quality standards as prescribed on SANS 0241.
On Friday, Amatola Water - an implementing agent of the department in Makana - is expected to give feedback to the contingent on the intervention work being undertaken in the area to ensure adequate provision of clean water to communities.
