South Africa and the Eastern Cape are celebrating after Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was crowned the 2019 winner of the Miss Universe pageant which was held in Atlanta Georgia, last night.
Born in 1993, Tunzi hails from Tsolo in the Eastern Cape.
South Africa, Mexico and Puerto Rico were the top Miss Universe finalists and the three women faced off for the crown as the evening came to a close.
Miss South Africa took the crown, 1st princess went to Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson and second runner-up Sofía Aragón of Mexico.
Three women from South Africa have now won the title of Miss Universe - Margaret Gardiner in 1978, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in 2017 and now Zozibini Tunzi in 2019.

Prior to winning the Miss South Africa title in Agust of this year, Tunzi was completing a Bachelor of Technology graduate degree in public relations management at Cape Peninsula University of Technology and worked as a graduate intern in the public relations department of Ogilvy Cape Town.
