The Department of Correctional Services has confirmed that recently paroled Janusz Walus was receiving treatment after being stabbed.
Spokesperson, Singabhako Nxumalo, said he was attacked by an inmate from the same housing unit as his.
“A detailed report will be provided at a later stage, but what can be stated at this point is that inmate Walus is stable and DCS health-care officials are providing the necessary care.”

Walus, who was jailed for life for the murder of South African Community Party leader, Chris Hani in 1993, was recently granted parole by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
He ordered that Walus be released in 10 days after the Constitutional Court set aside the decision by Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola to deny his parole application in 2020.
