Eight members of the police's VIP protection unit accused of assaulting SANDF members on the N1 highway in Gauteng, have been granted bail in the Randburg Magistrate's Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says they granted bail of R10 000 each.
The accused were released on bail on the condition that they do not contact state witnesses directly or indirectly.
They are also not allowed to interfere with state investigations in any manner.
NPA Spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana, says the accused face several charges, including the contravention of the Firearms Control Act, negligent driving, malicious damage to property, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The court postponed the case to 27 September for further investigations.
