Troubled low-cost airline, Velvet Sky, has reportedly started to put staff on unpaid leave as it battles with cash flow problems.
However, the company's chief executive officer, Gary Webb, refused to comment on the matter today, saying it was "private".
Reports on Friday state that the airline's staff have been given notice of temporary lay-offs rather than retrenchments.
The process commenced on Wednesday.
It comes as the airline is facing a liquidation application in the Pietermaritzburg High Court, which was initiated by fuel supplier BP, who say that Velvet Sky owes it R29m.
