A woman who practices as a Specialist Pulmonologist with zero qualifications has been arrested by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Springs.
Spokesperson Priscilla Sekhonyana says, Sonnet Mari Brand was arrested at one of her practices in Springs.
It is alleged that Brand moved from Cape Town to Springs in April where she opened two practices.
Sekhonyana says it is further alleged that Brand was fraudulently handing out prescriptions to patients to get schedule medication.
Brand appeared in court on Monday, where she was charged for contravening Section 17(1)(a) as well as Section 40 of the Health Professions Act.
Bail was denied.
