The protracted and unprotected strike at Eskom is finally over.
Algoa FM News understands that the three labour unions at the power utility have accepted Eskom's 7% wage hike offer.
It ends two weeks of illegal industrial action, which forced the embattled power utility to take the unprecedented step of implementing stage 6 loadshedding.
Eskom's inability to keep the lights on was further affected by employees staying away during the illegal strike.
The National Union of Mineworkers NUM and metalworkers' union NUMSA had been holding out for a double-digit wage increase before engaging its members today on the 7% wage increase offer.
Solidarity, the third union involved in wage talks at Eskom, indicated previously that it had accepted the wage deal.
The illegal strike at the crippled power utility led to higher stages of loadshedding in the past couple of weeks as well as incidents of intimidation and sabotage at several power stations.
