The national shut-down by students at the University of South Africa has been called off.
This, after Unisa management and its Student Representative Council, signed an agreement on Saturday.
This will see the week-long action by students called off with immediate effect and normal operations at the university campuses country-wide resuming on Monday.
The University said the negotiations also included the Department of Higher Education and Training and focused on registration challenges at the university, accreditation, enrolment planning, provision of laptops, and other matters.
Unisa principal and vice-chancellor, Professor Mandla Makhanyasaid “the breakthrough also demonstrates how crucial dialogue is in efforts to find solutions.”
