Teachers' union, Sadtu has condemned the murder of a female teacher who was shot dead outside a school in North West Province on Wednesday.
Sadtu's provincial secretary, George Themba, says the incident happened outside the Rutanang Primary School.
Police said the 45-year-old woman was gunned down by two men as she sat in her car outside the school. The motive for the shooting is not yet known.
Meanwhile, Themba says Sadtu has been concerned about safety at schools in the province in particular, and in the country in general.
"The issue of safety is something that we have always raised. Our schools are no longer really safe," he told Algoa FM News on Wednesday.
Themba said the safety of educators and other employees cannot be guaranteed.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, said no arrests have yet been made.
