Police in Gqeberha are searching for the gunmen who shot and killed two women and wounded two others, including a baby boy in Kwazakhele on Thursday morning.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the incident occurred when three women and a child, who were driving on Daku Road, stopped to buy chickens.
She said when one of the women returned to the vehicle, two men approached and opened fire.
“The front and back passengers, aged between 25 and 50 years old, were fatally wounded.
The driver was shot through her right leg and a baby boy of about one year that was in the backseat with his mother, was shot through his right arm,” Naidu said.
She said the motive for the shooting is not yet known and the names of the deceased will be released at a later stage.
