A joint operation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime unit assisted by Mahikeng Tactical Response Team has led to the arrest of two suspects for alleged abduction, rape, sexual exploitation and trafficking of a 17-year-old Lichtenburg girl.
Northwest police spokesperson, Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso, says its alleged the two suspects abducted the girl at a hiking spot at Lichtenburg and forced her into prostitution, drugs and alcohol consumption.
The Hawks were tipped off and with the assistance of a Tactical Response Team, went to the suspects house unannounced and arrested the two suspects.
The young girl was found inside the house which is believed to be a prostitution den. She was rescued and taken to a place of safety.
The two suspects, 22-year-old Natasha Moncho and 20-year-old Mpho Sebati appeared briefly in the Lichtenburg Magistrate Court yesterday and were remanded in custody until their next appearance on the 27th of June, pending further investigation.
