DURBAN, Oct 13 (ANA) â Two people died in a light aircraft crash near Jozini in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday evening.
Robert McKenzie, spokesman for the KwaZulu-Natal provincial Emergency Medical Service confirmed that there were two fatalities.
Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Kabelo Ledwaba confirmed the crash and said that a team of aircraft accident investigators were on their way to the crash in far northern KwaZulu-Natal.
âDetails are still sketchy at present; however, it has been reported that the aircraft, a Piper PA28, was carrying two people who, regrettably, succumbed to their injuries following the crash,â he said.
He said that the information that the CAA had was that the plane had taken off at Pongola and was headed to Brakpan in Gauteng.
Ledwaba said determining the cause of the accident would take months.
The names and details of those who had died were not released.
