Two people have been killed in a light aircraft crash in Richmond, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
ER24's Werner Vermaak says the aircraft went missing shortly after taking off from the Oribi Airport in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday.
He says the aircraft came down in a sugarcane field.
Vermaak says a search was called off last night due to poor visibility accompanied by rain and mist.
He says the search resumed on Thursday, when another aircraft reported seeing the wreckage in the sugarcane field.
Vermaak says the cause of the crash is not yet known and will be investigated by the local police and Civil Aviation Authority.
