Two people were killed and a tanker burst into flames in a collision between three vehicles on the N-3 near Pietermaritzburg on Monday.
KwaZulu-Natal provincial Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Robert McKenzie says the accident happened near the Peter Brown Drive off-ramp at Town Hill.
He says eight people were injured in the collision.
According to ER24's Pieter Rossouw, the truck driver allegedly lost control and collided with at least three construction vehicles.
He says that part of the N3 is undergoing road maintenance.
The injured were taken to various hospitals in Pietermaritzburg.
