Two teenagers and a 30-year-old man will appear in the Calitzdorp Magistrates court on Monday in connection with the murder of 66-year-old local resident Lourens de Villiers.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says de Villiers’ family raised the alarm last week Tuesday which led to the discovery of his body lying outside his residence with multiple injuries.
He says De Villiers was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
His bakkie was also stolen and later found abandoned at Matjiesfontein.
The K9 unit launched a manhunt for the suspects but finally had a break in the case on Saturday when a 14-year-old teenager handed himself over to police.
Sergeant Spies says further investigation led them to a house in Bergsig where they found stolen items belonging to the deceased as well as the key to his bakkie.
He says the 30-year-old homeowner was arrested.
Spies says the final arrest came on Sunday morning when another teenager, aged 15, was positively linked to the crime.
All three suspects will be charged with murder and possession of stolen goods.
The investigation continues and more charges could be added as the investigation unfolds.
