Two suspects have been arrested in connection with last weekend's break-in at the SA Navy Armament Depot.
SANDF spokesperson, Brigadier-General Xolani Mabanga, says the stolen equipment was recovered at a house in Stellenbosch.According to unconfirmed reports several weapons, including Uzi machine guns, an R1 rifle, ammunition and hand grenades were stolen.
Speaking to Algoa FM News on Thursday, General Mabanga said the arrests followed a joint investigation that included the Hawks.The arrests follow a collaborative effort and speedy response by the Military Police and the Hawks.
Mabanga says, after their arrest, the suspects led them to where the stolen military equipment was stored. All the stolen equipment was recovered.
The investigation, which is currently underway, may lead to more arrests.
