Twelve people have died in a horror road accident near Vryburg in the North-West province.
Three adults and seven children travelling in a Chevrolet Captiva along the Vryburg-Ganyesa road, died on Wednesday when their vehicle collided head-on with a Toyota Hilux bakkie with three occupants.
Two adults in the bakkie died while a 10-year old boy survived and was admitted to hospital with serious injuries.
North West police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwa-bone, says the cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and an investigation is continuing.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
