Tributes pour in for pilot killed fighting Cape Town fires

SANParks says  Willem Marais, who died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, was a respected pilot.

Marais was affectionately known as "Bees" by his family and friends.

SANParks board chairperson Kuseni Dlamini says in a statement Marais played a vital role in suppressing the fire that raged across the Table Mountain National Park over the past week.

Marais' helicopter crashed while fighting a blaze at the Cape Point Nature Reserve on Sunday.
