The local entertainment industry is mourning the loss of legendary actress Christine Basson.
She passed away in the high care unit of a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of Monday morning.
Basson was best known for her character Nora Naudé in the soapie Egoli
Actress Lizz Meiring was one of the first to pay tribute to Christine Basson - who was both a friend and mentor.
"She was a magnificent actress, a true professional and an absolute icon. We will miss her and the ilk of a Christine Basson dearly," she said.
Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in for well-known Afrikaans singer Jacques de Koning who was killed in a head-on collision on the R72 between Port Alfred and Kenton on Sea yesterday morning.
He was only 52.
