The National Department of Transport has sent its condolences to the families of who lost loved ones in road crashes over the Easter long weekend.
The Ministry said in a statement Sunday that the bus crash between Kranskop and Nkandla in Kwazulu Natal on Saturday in which 14 people were killed, “is once again a stark reminder that the road deaths are not just numbers.”
“There is a human face behind every statistic, there is a breadwinner behind every statistic, there is parent and child behind every statistic,” the Transport Ministry said.
The Department has dispatched officials from the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) to investigate some of these crashes as well as the Road Accident Fund (RAF) to assist the families with the necessary claims.
“We once again call upon road users to be vigilant and to exercise extreme care as we near the end of the Easter weekend,” the Ministry said.
