Traffic officials arrested in Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn

Western Cape police have arrested three Driver Licence Testing Centre officials and a driving school owner in Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn on Saturday.

Transport MEC, Robin Carlisle says the arrests follow a joint operation between the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works, the police and undercover operatives from the Hawks.

He says the operation, called "Safely Home" is part of an on-going collaboration between his department and the Hawks to bring corrupt licencing officials to justice.

Two driving licence examiners from Calitzdorp were arrested for allegedly issuing fraudulent learner's licences, and a further driving licence examiner from Oudtshoorn was arrested, after another examiner provided an affidavit alleging criminal activities.
