Police say five prominent leaders of transport union Satawu in Cape Town, have been arrested and charged with public violence.
The group was arrested following protest action in Nyanga on Thursday afternoon.
Police captain FC van Wyk says 8 trucks were torched in Cape Town yesterday, in continuing violence related to the truckers strike.
"Cases of arson, public violence and malicious damage to property were opened for investigation, anyone with information on these incidents are requested to contact the crime stop number on 08600 1011" van Wyk said
