Gauteng police are investigating the deaths of three people following a shooting at a restaurant in Sandton in Johannesburg on Thursday night.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, said four other people were injured in the shooting at Solo restaurant.
She said a man carrying a firearm wanted to enter the restaurant, which has a no firearm policy, and an altercation ensued between the man's bodyguards and the establishment's security, leading to a shooting.
Colonel Nevhuhulwi said the unidentified man was wounded and died in hospital, while his two bodyguards died on the scene.
She said two patrons, a security guard and a CPF member were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Nevhuhulwi said their preliminary investigation revealed that the man who she said started the incident, was arrested previously for a shooting incident in Sandton last year.
She said no arrests have been made and the police investigation is continuing.
