Three men are expected to appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrates' Court on Tuesday after they allegedly broke into a liquor store on Saturday.
A spokesperson for police Brigadier Novela Potelwa says they received information about the break-in where the suspects allegedly broke a window to gain access to the store.
A local security company on patrol in the area was flagged down by a passerby who raised the alarm.
Potelwa says the suspects aged 29, 33 and 43 allegedly grabbed some alcohol before fleeing in a vehicle.
The car's details were circulated and the vehicle was spotted at a nearby roadblock being manned by traffic officials.
Officials pulled it over and found several bottles of alcohol in the back seat.
They will face a charge of burglary and for breaking lockdown regulations.
