It's been a week since the remake of the Lion King was released in SA Cinemas, and already pirated copies are being sold on the streets.
This is according to the Film and Publication Board (FPB) who destroyed 300 000 pirate DVD's in Gauteng on Friday.
The FPB says the DVD's were confiscated in a number of raids in Johannesburg.
The estimated street value is R22 million.
The Provincial Police Commissioner in Gauteng in conjunction with the board renewed their commitment to cleaning up the streets.
The Acting CEO Dr Maria Moteban says as guardians of safe media consumption for kids in SA they cannot allow illegal distributors on our streets.
She says unclassified DVD's can also contain harmful content.
