A multi-million rand government tender has been delayed in Limpopo after a tender box was blown up at the provincial education department's offices in Polokwane.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Ronel Otto, says the incident happened late on Tuesday night after someone in a charcoal Mercedez-Benz had deposited documents in the tender box.
She says minutes after the person left, the box exploded, shredding the documents inside.
According to the Limpopo Education Department, the tender submission deadline for the National School Nutritional Programme is on Wednesday.
The R870 million tender was for supplying food to at least 3 000 schools, including special-need schools.
