Investigators from the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) have commenced the probe into the cause of a crash that has claimed ten lives and left three seriously injured on the N1 in Makhado, Limpopo on Tuesday night.

Spokesperson, Simon Zwane, said the accident occurred at approximately 23H50 when the driver of a bus, who was allegedly speeding, failed to safely navigate a traffic circle.

He said this resulted in the bus overturning while traveling southbound from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg. "

"The deceased passengers are reportedly all foreign nationals," he said.

Zwane said RTMC expresses its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in this incident and wishes a speedy recovery to those who are currently hospitalised with injuries.

The spokesperson for the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, Phuti Lekganyane, said the deceased were five men and five women.

The bus driver was reportedly new to his job and was not familiar with the surroundings.
