Ten people were killed and at least 13 others were injured when a vehicle overturned along Ou Kaapse Weg in Steenberg, Cape Town.
Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 2 am on Saturday where they found nine people, all men, with fatal injuries.
One more person has since died in hospital, bringing the death toll to 10.
The other patients were admitted to hospital with minor, moderate and serious injuries.
Western Cape traffic chief, Kenny Africa says it seems as if the driver of the bakkie lost control.
He says the passengers were all on the back of the vehicle.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
