Ten children killed in horror accident in Free State

Ten children were killed in a head-on collision between a taxi and a bakkie on the R726 between Zastron and Sterkspruit in the Free State on Friday morning.

EMS spokesperson, Tammy Warwick, says it is believed the children in the taxi were on route to Johannesburg.

Warwick says another passenger was flown to a hospital in Bloemfontein with serious injuries, while many of the deceased succumbed to burns after the taxi caught fire.

Police say the cause of the accident is unknown and the families of the victims have not yet been notified.
