Teenager allegedly raped by man she met on Twitter

A 13-year-old Pretoria girl has allegedly been raped by a man she met on the social networking site, Twitter.

Police said the girl bunked school earlier this month to meet the 45-year-old man at her parents' home at the exclusive Silver Lakes golf estate in Pretoria.

When the girl realised that the person was much older than she had expected, she reportedly tried to close the front door.

However, the suspect forced it open and then allegedly raped the girl.
He was arrested shortly afterwards and appeared in court for a second time on Thursday.
The man may not be named because he has not yet been formally charged.
