A teenage boy is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate's Court on Monday for allegedly killing four members of his family in Etwatwa on the East Rand.
Gauteng police say the 14-year-old allegedly hacked his mother, grandmother and two siblings to death on Friday.
His 42-year-old mother and three-month old sister died at the scene, while his grandmother and seven-year-old brother died at the Far East Rand hospital.
The family was sleeping in one room when they were attacked.
Two sisters, aged eight and nine, escaped and alerted community members.
