Police in Bloemfontein arrested a 32-year-old teacher for allegedly stealing a learner's phone.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Ikobeng Hllubi says the 12-year-old learner from Rekgone Primary school in Bloemspruit was busy with a school project and asked his teacher to keep his phone in a safe place.
She says when the child asked for his phone back after school, the teacher said he did not know where it was.
On Friday the 7th of September the learner opened up a case of theft at the local police station.
Hlubi says on Tuesday the teacher was caught red-handed using the learner's phone.
She says he tried to deny that his phone was the stolen one, but the evidence on the device was too overwhelming and proved to belong to the child
The suspect will appear in court soon on a charge of theft.
