A taxi driver, believed to be 38, has been shot dead in Uitsig in Elsies River, ER24 Spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen said on Saturday.
Van Huyssteen said when said paramedics responded to a call-out mid-morning they arrived at the scene at about 11.37 am. They found that a taxi had crashed into a house.
“Upon further assessment, they found a man lying in the front seat of the taxi. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. ER24 declared the man dead on the scene,” said Van Huyssteen.
“It is believed that the taxi driver was shot at before he crashed into the dwelling.”
No arrests have been reported, but police are investigating the murder.
