Police officers at the crime scene at a mini-market in Allandridge in the Free State

SAPS

A taxi driver from Gauteng is in police custody after two ATM's were bombed in Allandridge in the Free State.

Police Spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng says the incident happened just after 1 AM on Thursday at the Allandridge mini-market.

He says the Welkom Flying Squad responded to the crime scene and discovered that both ATM's were bombed with an undisclosed amount of cash missing.

Captain Thakeng says they followed up on several leads which led them to a Rio Kia Sedan in the area, with Gauteng registration plates.

The 44-year-old man who hails from Kempton Park was arrested for his alleged involvement in the bombing.

He is expected to appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrates Court soon.

Several other suspects are still on the run.
