Three men appeared in court on Monday in connection with the theft of firearms from the Petrusville police station.
They were arrested over the weekend by members of the Hawks from the Northern Cape and Free State following the robbery last Tuesday.
The Hawk said Moqebelo Moloi, Mosiwa Motsoane, and Orefile Moshugi, made brief appearances before the Senekal and Marquard courts respectively.
Spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Tebogo Thebe the trio was arrested by a multi-disciplinary team on Saturday, apparently while looking for a buyer for the stolen firearms.
"The accused persons are alleged to have stolen firearms and ammunition at Petrusville SAPS on 6 November 2023," he said.
SAPS provided no further details on the theft but said the case against Moloi and Motsoane was postponed to Friday, while Moshugi will be back in the Marquard Magistrate court on Thursday for a bail application.
