A 31-year-old man has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly shooting at his wife – but missed.

Spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo said the incident took place on Saturday in Port St Johns.

He said following the man’s arrest, he led police to two male suspects aged 39 and 41 whom he alleged to have sold firearms to and both unlicensed 9 mm pistols with ammunition were recovered.

“These suspects were immediately arrested,” Captain Matyolo said in a brief statement.

In a separate incident in Tsolo, the police’s tactical response team arrested a 27-year-old murder suspect at Lucingweni locality on Saturday, at about 19H30, and recovered another unlicensed 9mm pistol with ammunition.

“All four suspects will appear in different magistrate courts on Monday facing their respective charges from attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms to unlawful possession of live ammunition.”
