Suspected perlemoen smuggler killed in high speed chase

A person, believed to be transporting R3 million worth of perlemoen, has been killed in a car accident that ended a 100km high-speed chase on the N1 north of Kroonstad.
The Free State department of environmental affairs says a car with Swaziland registration plates failed to stop at a roadblock outside Kroonstad on Saturday afternoon.
Spokesperson, Kgotso Tau says the Green Scorpions gave chase and the driver later lost control and the vehicle overturned.
He says paramedics certified one suspect dead and the other one was taken into custody and is being questioned by police.
Perlemoen with an estimated value of R3 million was recovered at the scene.
