A suspect is due to appear in court in Schweizer-Reneke on Monday after a farmer and his wife were severely assaulted during a weekend farm attack.
Police said the 64-year-old farmer and his 63-yer-old wife were found tied up and badly beaten on Saturday.
Hot water had also been poured over the man.
The 38-year-old suspect was wounded in a car chase and is currently under police guard in hospital.
He will appear in Court "in absentia" for possession of stolen goods and the illegal possession of a firearm.
More charges could be added.
Police Spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone says the couple's stolen Nissan X-trail and a firearm was confiscated during the arrest.
He says meanwhile another two suspects have been taken in for questioning.
