A 26-year-old man has been found guilty of the double murder of a Great Brak River couple, Tewie and Eureka Human.
Tamsamqa Sishub was convicted in the Mossel Bay High Court on Thursday.
The 72-year-old Tewie was hit with a panga seven times while 62-year old Eurika Human was stabbed with a knife during a home invasion in June last year.
Judge Robert Henney said in his judgement that Sishuba had given the court different versions of what happened on the day of the double murder. Henney told Sishuba that he tried to mislead the court by giving three different versions during his testimony.
Henney said Sishuba had prior knowledge of the murder and said that it was well planned. He said that it is highly unlikely that one person would make use of two weapons.
Sishuba was found guilty on two charges of murder and two charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The case was postponed to Monday for sentencing.
The other suspect, Lebohang Lekoro fled to Lesotho after the murder and is still at large. Lekoro worked for the Humans and is described by police as the mastermind behind the double murder.
