Suspect back in court for Sedgefield hammer murder

A man is due to appear in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for a bail application, following the murder of a 67-year-old woman, who was bludgeoned to death with a hammer in Sedgefield.

The 50-year-old suspect was arrested within minutes of the incident on the 2 February outside the home of the victim, Lorna Hampson.

Hampson's body was found on the sidewalk outside her home in Marigold Street.

The suspect, who was found in possession of a hammer, also faces two charges of malicious damage to property, for damaging the vehicles of members of the public who responded to the crime scene.
